Phishing is on the rise. Here are three quick things you can do to help stay safe.

With the promise of COVID-19 Stimulus checks cyber criminals have begun targeting people with increasing effective phishing attempts. It’s important that individuals remain vigilant for scams related to Coronavirus/COVID-19. Cyber criminals are sending emails with malicious attachments or links to fraudulent websites in order to trick people into revealing sensitive information. We’ve put together a few quick steps you can take to stay safe.

  1. Sign up for ACTIVE monitoring from /MT. This situation is why ACTIVE monitoring is so important. Hackers never sleep. There’s always evolving threats, staying ahead of them is a full time job for even the most security conscious internet user. That’s where we come in. Let us help keep you safe, informed and ahead of all incoming security threats.
  2. Be wary of email attachments from unknown sources. The most common way people are becoming victims are downloading files from hackers. It may not appear to be from a hacker, but before you download anything verify the source. Hackers have become increasing creative at disguising themselves. But if you have a question contact us and one of our security experts will be happy to look into it for you.
  3. Do not reveal personal or financial information in email, and do not respond to email solicitations for this information. This may seem like common sense, but think about how often in a given week or month do you enter passwords, login information, into a website? It’s become second nature and hackers count on that. If they can for one second get you to believe their email offer is real. Then they have you. It’s important to stay vigilant and disciplined when entering information online.
